  2. Hi Habib,

It’s good to know that we can use the insert function to add formulas to do lots of calculations that you taught from lesson 1 to lesson 9, which can help those who are not good at remembering things(me included.)
People can use the insert function to sum, max, or average by clicking it on the ribbon. I gain lots of confidence at work from your excel training sessions. Highly appreciated. 🙂

    Cheers,

  3. Another awesome lesson on 3 functions that is widely used with excel. I love the way you use a full data sheet and separate the columns with colors so it stands out which defiantly makes it a lot easier to comprehend. I did some playing after completing the lesson and noticed that it also works if you had a grid of numbers (D4:I12). Thank you for these lessons, it makes it fun to learn excel.

  7. Hey Habib, as you know I am not the greatest fan of Excel. Probably because there are just too much possibilities which makes it confusing at times. So it is always lovely to have someone like you to explain it in a simple way. 🙂
(By the way, I love your coloring of the cells. They look very cheerful that way!)
Keep up the good work and lots of success.

  10. Wow, whilst I use Excel daily for my business and my personal budget, I had never attempted to use the Fx (insert function command).

As a bit of an old-boy I have constantly used the old-style of simply typing in relevant function into the cell.

Thankyou for this, it will certainly save some time when using functions, especially those that I do not use on a regular basis and therefore may not know the parameters off the cuff.

As a bonus, I have also learnt about the fill-handle short cut. Cannot wait to try it.

  16. Yes! An excellent video on how to use the insert buttons in excel. I was looking forward to learning more about this – I remember having a job position where I had to calculate values using some of these shortcuts but I had no idea how!

Luckily, I had help, but I now know how important it is to use these in daily life. I do need to improve on my function arguments, and I know that they are actually simple to input but my mind is always thinking – why use the insert function button when I can just manually type them in?

You showed a great example and easy to follow way for anyone to use excel for budget spreadsheets and all else. I will bookmark your page for sure!

    Thank you,
    Michael

  18. I use excel all the time and use some of the basic functions and often forget about what they do.

I have in the past written programs for Excel to manipulate the data but those days are long gone!

Excel is such a great application and can be learned by anyone for basic spreadsheets but full of functions that many aren’t aware of until they come across posts like yours.

What a wonderful tutorial. I learned something new. Your video is amazing, You are really a good teacher. A few years ago, I took a training course called ICDL in which I master word, excel, PowerPoint, and many other basic computer techniques. But I never study these functions. Any skill requires practice, however, I say if you never understood the skill in the first place then you never gained the knowledge in the first place. My advice is always – seek to understand the skill/task before attempting to implement it – then it will stay with you for life.
