Hi Habib,
It’s cool to add a drop-down list to our excel files which makes it more professional and good for data collecting. Your tutorial is really comprehensive and easy-to-follow. I am sure even an excel newbie could get your points right from the beginning.
For the prices, I think I would use the vlookup function to take the prices from the left table so that I don’t need to choose the prices again for each item. Do you think my way is correct? Thanks in advance.
Matt
Hi Matt, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.
Yes, you are spot on to say a VLOOKUP function is best to be used to retrieve the prices automatically. But, I have not used it in this tutorial on purpose as I wanted to keep the focus on the drop-down lists. I have created a full tutorial on VLOOKUP function in Excel:

Hi Habib,
Your site is seriously a gem. I have forgotten how to do these after not using excel for so long! Straight to the point and its a good pace, as always.
Best regards,
SAM
Thank you Sam for your support and feedback. I have many more lessons coming, which will cover all aspects of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher etc.

This was a great tutorial. Drop down lists are useful and I think that it gives you a little more control about what others (for example, employees) can put in there, if I understood correctly 😉 It is a good way to keep track of everything.
Thank you Christine for your comment. Yes, drop-down lists allow for only valid data to be inserted or selected from the list.
